연꽃은 불가에선 대자대비한 부처님의 가르침이나 깨달음을 뜻하나
민가에서는 꽃씨와 꽃잎을 한꺼번에 내어 자손번창과 부귀영화를 상징한다.
연근은 마디마디 되어있어 목숨수(壽)를 뜻해 장수를 염원하고
오리는 암수가 항시 같이 노닐며 한쪽이 죽어도 절개를 지킴으로 부부 금실을 나타낸다.
Lotus flowers emerge from mud, but being always washed by the waves, they do not get dirty and have
been symbols of purity as they were not thought to be bewitching or voluptuous. The lotus reflects the
virtue of man. If it appeared together with seeds, the meaning was connected with children.
